In developing use-inspired research and educational opportunities through a locally-centered lens, significant opportunities are created for engagement of businesses and startups, local government, non-profits, NGOs, and community organizations. This is particularly the case with STEM-oriented students preparing to enter the workforce.
Through the discussion of a case study at a primary undergraduate institution, this video by Heidy Contreras highlights how community-based research and curricular development can come together to blend academic research with community involvement.
This activity is part of Building Bridges to Use-Inspired Research and Science-Informed Practices, funded under NSF Grant # FAIN-2309541.
